Showdown allows for anything in gen 1 to have maxed EVs if I remember right, maybe there are one or two exceptions. That should only be possible with tradebacks though. In that meta, fossil mons have a lot more going for them, nobody is going to have a perfect Tauros.
Admittedly less than 1% of players knew about any of this shit, but still. Showdown lets everything in gen 1 max every stat because it's convenient, but that results in a significant boost to a lot of pokemon who wouldn't have had perfect EVs. I don't even mind perfect IVs because yeah that's pure chance and technically possible in the original, but you aren't going to get a Chansey as powerful as the ones on showdown in gen 1 unless you tradeback from gen 2.
Aerodactyl would be way better for this reason too. Makes me wonder what other shit mons would really benefit from a more accurate system.
