The worst kind of "artificiali blocks" are those that the game arbitrally makes appear and disappear, without giving an explaination of why to the player. Like the guy in Mahogany that stops you for no fucking reason from going to the Ice Cave, mumbling about visiting other places first, or the guy with his Stoutland in Heahea that feels entitled to block the road to search for hidden items. Those kind of roadblocks are actively annoying

I got the impression that guy was a Rocket member who was shaking down travelers. Hence why you need to deal with the hideout before you can proceed on.

My favorite is the fag on the stoutland blocking the the 2nd path out of the city which is already blocked by the sudowoodo a little bit down the road and also blocking the resort where you already can't proceed the story there without activating the flag that takes you to the aether foundation

Yeah, since you had to figure it out yourself and opening it basically unlocked the whole map.
The map design in gen 1 is so damn good, I wish they went back to that style.

people who hate HMs and complain about artificial roadblocks are some of the dumbest motherfuckers in the pokemon fandom. the game needs some way to gate your progress so you can experience its events in an order that makes sense, and it's gotta be one or the other.
