I don't he in particular is actually behind the invite, seems more likely they just heard about the "Star Student of [Your Version] Academy" from several sources since by all accounts you will need to have done The Way Home before getting to go there and are a defacto Hall of Famer by then. If anything it would be Briar due her whole Agenda wanting to get you under her sway after hearing you actually went down to Area Zero. Kieran will most just take advantage of the opportunity that presents himself to prove himself as having grown stronger then (you).

It's basically something of a Wallace and Steven in Emerald situation, Geeta may be the one in the official seat, but that seems to be more because Nemona clearly isn't someone who is capable of the implied OTHER (administrative) responsibilities of a "Top Champion" aside from "Being the Strongest" yet as opposed to going "Yeah, i care about rare rocks more, BYE!".

It probably won't be. No trainer will outlevel Red or Cynthia until Game Freak are ready to feature them in-game again with canonically updated teams (Barry gets lv. 85 'mons in Plt, HGSS gave Red a Lv. 88 'chu, BDSP gave Cynthia a Lv. 88 'Chomp). And as Cynthia only very recently matched Red, I doubt they'd anoint some scrub from the schticks with the same reverence they gave to their battle King and Queen.
