That's all well and good, but the Mega they chose for the tutorial is literally the strongest one in the game and then none of the enemies in the game use Megas against you

I also question the need for a tutorial in the first place, all you have to do to Mega Evolve is press the single button that says MEGA EVOLVE

it's not that you won't have a mega-capable pokemon at that point, it's that you won't have any mega stones.
it would be for the game to give you a lucario for the tutorial alone, without gifting it to you afterwards. but XY stupidly locks almost all of its mega stones to postgame. for 99% of players, the options for mega evolution are your kanto starter or lucario, so the game has to give you the lucario.
it's real sad when the gen 3 remakes do a better job at showcasing gen 6's features than XY.

That still require you to beat the game normally.
I kind of agree for the healers, TMs and tutorials. But it still wasn't nearly as bad as gen 6 where the opponent are straight up underleveled.
