>>54575174Platinum is the definitive experience. It's also the best third version. It's just that much better than DP. Gen 4 is better than anything before it for the physical/special split alone, but HGSS and Platinum seal the deal. Gen 5 is at mid because what it does for gameplay and potential pokemon variety it loses in terms of forcing me to sit through a poorly-written story with dogshit characters who I hate. I can't name a single NPC in Gen 5 that I like, they're all either annoying or assholes or sometimes both and I hate that playing gen 5 requires you to sit through like an hour of vapid, empty, pointless dialogue and baby tutorials. It's all the shit I hate about gen 7, but 2 gens earlier.
Gen 3 is only salvagable because of the extensive romhacking scene, otherwise it's the awkward puberty and hoenn itself is 0/10 too much water with the most pointless HM use in the entire franchise in its back half and an otherwise forgettable region design.
Gen 2 is completely irrelevant because of HGSS.
Gen 1 is buggy unfinished dogshit that has been eclipsed not once but twice, with both LGPE and FRLG being better Kanto experiences than RBYG.
Gen 7 can go die in a hole, it is absolutely the most miserable experience I've had playing pokemon and it was so bad I stopped before I even got out of like the first or second town because the game kept shoving dogshit baby tutorials down my throat and tons of unskippable dialogue. It's like gen 5 on steroids.
