>>54605540Magic doesn't have a problem with scalpers. The lack of MSRP is a problem, but usually only if you can't control your fomo. It works like this:
>new product is released>initial prices are high and offer can't keep up with demand>fomo bitches and "investors" can't control themselves and buy it>second market is flooded with singles>full art version of card is cheaper than regular version>wotc catch up on demand>single chads and draft chads enjoy a fair price>you can't play with set and collectors boosters, so who caresSecret Lair is printed on demand, so as long as you placed your order during the time window, you'll get it.
The problem with WotC is their reprint policies, because of the reserved list and their acknowledge of the second market prices for Secret Lair. New products are not scalped. Of course, if your goal is to have the one of one ring, and not a card for your deck, then you're the cancer in the community and should be kept isolated.
A TCG is healthy if people who just want to play the game have access to the game pieces they need, while "investors" and cumllectors chase the rare and fancy versions of a card. If the two types are chasing the same cards, there's a problem. Magic has more problems with this because of reprints policy. Pokémon is cheaper than Magic if you just want to play.
