Pre Gen IV moves were pretty scarce and a lot of things actively ran different flavors of Hidden Power.
The Gen IV happened and fucked everything up with the split and starting to introduce
a shit ton of high power moves with very little drawbacks accompanied by even more
boosting items.

Like increasing Damp distribution the same gen Explosion got nerfed
Or introducing Zoroark in the same generation as team preview
Or designing a mon that can function in any weather the gen defined by weather
Or thinking Terra is sensible mechanic
