>>54597660Peta something something. It's based on an elemental structure where you have to collect a stone for it based on the Pokemon you want to evolve. If a Pokemon has access to a Mega form, it'll become the mega if you've found the stone (no longer hold items), gigantimax if you've found the universal stone for those, Special Terra form if it has that ability and the circumstances are right, and if your Pokemon doesn't have any of those it gains a health boost and its tera typing when it activates. The element of the stone itself chooses the typing of a move replaced in the Pokemon's own personal move pool. If you use an Electric Petrastone, and the Pokemon has an electric attack, it'll become a special electric move (this is true of Megas and Gigantas, too). Petra something something Pokemon have their entire bodies turned into hard polished stone like structures made of condensed energy. This bolsters their regular stats until the effect is broken after a few htis, at which point your Pokemon stays Mega or Giganta, but loses the bolstering properties.
Eventually we get some Pokemon (like Charizard) who can take it a step further and gain true Petra forms. Crosses between special Terras, Gigantas and Megas.
tl;dr You get a statue Pokemon with boosted stats, a Tera typing, and special moves that breaks after a certain number of hits. But if you have a special stone, the Pokemon that comes out of the crystal might be a Mega, a Giganta, or something else.
