Gonna do a marathon of the series. Do you have any tips on how I can best enjoy this?

I'm planning on transferring all the mons up, and also only leave a game after 100%ing it, not just beating the E4, so it's gonna take a while. Gonna try to nickname them all, rotate party members, train new members for battle facilities, use previous boxed members from older games on newer games if possible.

Besides doing different teams, how do you make new playthroughs fun for yourself?

After a vanilla playthrough of a game finishing the story, I mostly focus on glitching (in the earlier gens) or the battle tower.

I did the same thing a few years back. My biggest advice is to only play the third versions (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum), then play Black OR White, so on. No need to retrace your steps two or three times over. Focus on using mons you’ve never used before and take full advantage of each generation’s mechanics to make the most of teammates you would normally overlook (IE, Gen1 Tangela having absurdly high physical AND special defense, Alakazam being the karate king with Special-boosted Fire/Thunder/Ice Punch). If you hacked your 3DS (you really should have, it’s super easy), all of these titles are available there and are compatible with PKSM to allow access to lost events, trade evos, and instant painless transferring forward and backwards across generations whenever you want.

Emerald only took me 85 hours to complete the dex (75 without Feebas), and I was really taking my time and playing with a really suboptimal team.

In regards to Emerald, they're talking about getting all the golds at the Battle Frontier.

But OP, I would recommend just doing the silvers. You won't technically 100% the game, but getting all the golds requires a ton of time, dedication, luck, and meta strategies. You can get the silvers with a team you chose and trained in a few hours. Of course, if your autism is too powerful then you might not be able to handle not having a maxed trainer card

use what you want and play how you want

you only need to do this for one or two games for each gen, or else you're doing a shitton of repeat work. if you want to be thorough, i'd do something like this:
>if there's a 3rd version, play that for 100%
>if it's a remake, pick one or the other for 100%
>otherwise, just beat the other games to collect version exclusives

self-imposed challenges are the latest trend nowadays. eg beat the game with only x type, don't evolve your pokemon ever, permadeath (nuzlocke) rules and so on

what you don't see is the months of effort he spent to route the whole thing and do the calcs for every frontier mon's set. he did multiple attempts of this run years before this one and failed miserably

Currently i'm also doing a playthrough of all the games, and im about halfway through yellow, so im right at the start of my journey. My plan is to simply beat whatever is considered the last major battle of the games (League, Red, Zinnia, Volo, etc) and then consider it "finished". Maybe ill for some other stuff afterwards but for my trek thats the goal, to beat every game in order and then make a compilation with all my teams for each game.
I'll be mostly using whatever pokemon I like, though trying to keep a semblance of team balance. More than anything, I just want to play the games and then get a record of it to memorialize my pokemon and that i've been through all the games
