You don't feel like missing out?
Because I can't imagine how a fan of any franchise would reject the lastest iteration of it's thing, and still consider themselves fans of said franchise, as you reject the idea of new content or participating in it, and this is regardless of it's quality, because if you were a fan at least you could bring yourself to watch/read/play it and give your opinion about it, but by rejecting it, you are just choosing to abandon the franchise altogether.
This was the reasoning that my father gave about the star wars fandom to me, as a boomer that actually went to see the first (actually fourth) one at the cinema with his father.
