Natu could've been a decent pick for his ace, though a bit on the weak side, if not for it's horrendous movepool. It's stat total aren't that far off from Pidgeotto, with nearly the same speed but higher sp. attack and lower defenses. But Xatu is already Will's ace and the only other gen 2 psychic type to take that role is Wobbuffet.

Maybe they could've solved the issue by switching Falkner and Bugsy around, giving Falkner a Noctowl and Bugsy an Ariados as their aces?
