That plus the QoL additions making training competitive Pokemon much easier, the addition of megas, and a metagame that was much more fun and diverse than gen 5, meant online was a huge blast. Don't get me started on friend safari autism, it was so fun to add people. Wonder Trading too, was so good before the hack/clone spam.
That to me is the real gen 6, which doesn't exist anymore, a completely unique moment in Pokemon history that can never be experienced again.. Whatever game remained is a decaying shell of its former self.
