But the issue is that Game Freak simply disagrees with us, they just don't take into account the Smogon meta when balancing and so many things get out of hand because of issues that were unintended and unforeseen in the design process. In Doubles OU Kingambit is not problematic, Palafin is not problematic, Spikes are not problematic, Gholdengo is not problematic, Bax/Screens is not problematic, and so on.
Smogon Doubles arguably fixes the most icky things about VGC (the format being 4v4, the banlist being set in stone, based on arbitrary "lore" instead of balance and not having any anti-hax clause) and like every other Smogon format lets the people have some agency over the format they play, but they don't swim against the tide so much and have to ban less and deal with less not-really-bannable headaches as a result.
Not claiming balance in Doubles (or in official VGC for that matter) is perfect, or that power-creep doesn't exist there, but when so many Pokémon touted rightfully as unprecedented world breakers in singles OU are "just" very good, or even mid, in doubles OU, and the opposite doesn't really happen as often, maybe something is going on.
