This image does GSC a disservice because it implies all Crystal has over HGSS is having less words.

Unique legendary themes
Additional routes and Safari Zone
Improved access to elemental stones via Pokathalon
Tons of misc events if you don't mind hacking in event items, including Rival lore and a Giovanni fight
Actual post-game in Battle Frontier
>Crystal pros:
Free baby mon
Better mon distribution in a few areas, early Teddiursa and Phanphy are really nice
GB sound font arguably aged better
No tutorials
Faster battles
Old school mechanics if you prefer them.

I'd suggest HGSS but it's up to preference.

nothing beats the original
Crystal has some nice changes, but I grow tired of the suicune plot after multiple replays so I give it to GS.
The pokemon animations are the only reason Crystal is actually a contender.

Unironically yes, the pokemon Crystal drops does make it arguably worse than GS. A lot of Crystal's earlygame is shitmons that have normal type moves as their hardest hitting move.

Hey everyone, OP here, I actually already decided on crystal a long ass time ago and forgot about this thread. I just got to Azalea town, here’s my team (Wooper, Dunsparce, Ledyba, and Chikorita respectively). I was incredibly lucky and somehow ran into a dunsparce as my first encounter in dark cave, so I caught it.

Why the FUCK are Snubbull and Marill so fucking hard to find?
I love those guys and Marill was really easy to get but Snubbull is just impossible. I've stumbled upon Entei and Raikou more times than I've seen a Snubbull, and Marill and Snubbull had an OVA to promote them.
What was Game Freak thinking?

You can only find Snubbull in route 38 on Soulless Silver.
Marill is on the cave north of Ecruteak, forgot the name, and it's so rare it might as well not exist.

I guess, fuck you to all the people trying to build a team that's not your starter, Graveler, Ampharos, and other two Kanto pokemon.

Most of the Pokemon removed were literal whos. Meanwhile you get the new Eeveelutions in exchange, several new areas, physical special split, better boxes, unlimited TMs, new moves, actually competent AI for gym leaders/E4, IV colored variant sprites, and more. But oh no Stantler isn't in the game, who gives a fuck

is right. When I play a rom hack, I usually don't want newer gen stuff to be included unless that is the main feature of the rom hack.
