It’s just a design that really comes together for me. Wheel, headlight eye, bulky body, it’s so unique. Plus I like trains and really bought into the “it’ll evolve into a train” hype after its reveal, so I think I’ve got some residual favoritism from that.

After playing through BW2 I keep coming back to Emboar even though he’s not that popular and is even a bit ugly (though I think that’s fine since he’s a boar after all). I love the art style of Wind Waker and Emboar always struck me as fitting in to that. He’s also got a great shiny. His description says he cares deeply for his friends so I’ve thought of him as someone who appears at first glance to be a dumb brute but has more intelligence and emotional depth than he seems. I don’t really think he translated well to 3D though- they seemed to give him even less of a neck and made his eyes smaller. I wasn’t really into Pokémon when B/W came out so I didn’t experience the initial disappointment of a third Fire/Fighting starter in a row that soured so many people to him. I hope that he appears in a future game and maybe has his model updated.

I like Lucario now because he was my partner in PSMD, even though he’s a shillmon. Some of the others I have an attachment to from a movie or animated short.

It's interesting to see slowking in so many people's top lists, I always thought he was kind of mid tier in popularity compared to Slowbro. I always wanted one as a kid since it was impossible to get without trading.

I'm a sucker for cute mons with a tragic backstory, also I like that it uses the masks to be scary while still just being cute. It's an easy design to like desu

Yeah it was really cute, looked like a Pikachu/Hamtaro mix. That main gold/mustard color is perfect. Looking back on the thread, that line seems to be decently popular so I guess it's a good choice in the games as well?

The last game I played was Soul Silver but DS emulators are always a little wonky for me.
