Do you nickname your pokemon?

If yes, what names do you always go for? do you try to be original every time? do you add a number at the end if its the same pokemon you used in another playthrough?

In my recent Platinum playthrough I used a save file from last year. I had named my starter Kylo for some reason, so I decided to name all my pokemon after Star Wars characters.

name the player after a character in some show or video game, and name the pokemon after the supporting cast and make them reasonably fit what character they’re named after

I nickname all mons that end up in my party. I usually keep them somewhat creative, but I reuse certain nicknames for the first instance of some species, e.g.
>FIRE (all caps) for the Charizard line
>fish. (lowercase, with a dot) for Magikarp/Gyarados
>EV for Eevee
>Volt for Jolteon
>Tux for the Piplup line
Most of these are just references to my first Red playthrough.

I nickname everything I use on a normal playthrough and everything I train to be used online or for battle facilities. Otherwise no.

Usually based on whatever I like at the time, typically characters I like or that fit well. Pic related, this is my bro team.

I try to name all my repeat pokemon after some Mexican artist/musician/actor. I then get on surprise trade and send them over. It just amuses me to think of some kid in japan with a solar power charmander named Vicente F.

I always name them according to their type. Dark types always end up as something like Bandit or Angel Eyes, water types after mythical monsters, etc.

whenever I play nowadays, I somewhat speedrun the game I play. Therefore, my starter is always called "A", the flyer "B", the digger "C" etc.

I usually name the mons I grow attached to. My safe go-to is a cute food name like Carrot, Sushi, Udon, Mochi.
I'm also fond of naming pairs in themes. I reuse the names Bad Day and Lucky Day. Those were originally the names of my Palico duo from Monster Hunter.
