youtubers who play the games for "content" and target their videos towards children.Gen 2 as a whole is slower paced and if you want to train a ton of Pokemon you need to stop and actually train them, they hate that. The gym rebattles on HGSS are also on strict weekly schedules, which again fits gen 2's vibe of being a game you play for longer and a world that exists without you, and they once again hate that about the games, they want to finish a playthrough in a day.
I'm being a devil's advocate here but it's because I know very precisely why I enjoy gen 2 so much and it makes me understand why the zoomers hate it.
