No fucking shit not all games are like this, but I don't think that indie games I follow and support like Knuckle Sandwich, Aero GPX, etc are going to hold weight when we're talking about the overall current climate of gaming which is either AAA or indie game that got popular with next to nothing in between. Fact is is that GameFreak pretty much just matches current trends in gaming; they aren't making you buy two copies of a game to complete a dex, that's on you if you don't have friends and they're not forcing remakes on people if they're content with the games they already own. It's just a way to be able to play with people that also want to play with others instead of doing their 34th Platinum nuzlocke on melonDS because God forbid they play a current game with an active playerbase. That'd mean that GameFreak is forcing them to buy a Switch, NSO, the Internet connection, the electricity in their house, a chair, whatever else.
