Should I go for the original Diamond/Pearl or BDSP if I've never played a Pokemon game before? I own both a Switch and a 3DS and those are the cheapest ones.

BDSP is the worsened version of DP.
Platinum is the better version of DP, so just buy/emulate it, no point in playing DP since Platinum exists

both are better than DP by a lot (DP is still good, but these are better)

Platinum has Battle Frontier (a long post-game), but BDSP is more modern/updated and accessible (is on the Switch, no HMs, more QoL, Switch graphics etc.), including for online
BDSP also has better Battle Tower and better rematches
