I've been replaying Gen 3 without speedup and the dead air during battles because you have shit like
>Pokémon is hurt by poison>Animation of the mon shaking while turning purple>Health bar drains, this becomes slower as HP values becomes biggerAnd every single status condition is like this, really bad in RSE where I can't take two steps without running into an NPC that uses confusion strats.
The least you could do is take cases like the above and make all 3 things happen either simultaneously or close to each other, that would fix:
>Status animations>Weather animations>Item animations (huge for Leftovers)Do the same with the damage text, print the "It's super effective!" textbox at the same time as the healthbar starts draining. For boosting moves, print the textbox that says that a stat was lowered or raised at the same time as the mon gets the stat effect. There's a million small changes like this that you could add up to make the gameplay faster and smoother with no real detriment to the game.
