- Praising Gen 4 gets you backlash because of above reason but also due to fans starting to believe that it was always a bad Gen 3 clone due to the poor remakes.
- Praising Gen 6+ onwards gets you backlash because it's the era of 3D mainline and new things are inherently bad, therefore liking it makes you a snot-nosed zoomer.
Gen 3 is the sweet spot where it's old enough to be acceptable to like without being called a zoomer, while also being modern and secluded enough for newfags to get into and not being considered obnoxious for praising it. It also gets the least shitposting, so no one's going to attack you for liking it or even making threads about it.
