I'm just now realizing this as well.
It all suddenly makes sense. The autistic obsession, the tasteless ship, the need to bring it up every thread even though Ash isn't even canon anymore. Ash x Dawnfag was Fagmon all along.

Anyways, here's a better and more logical ship than Ash x Dawn. Ash xNastina makes more sense. Ash is just as good looking as Nastina, and just as tall as well. Moreover, Nastina is retired, just like Ash. They're perfect for eachother.

Since DLC 02 take place on Unova so I believe the possibility of an older Iris appearing with a rad design like Zinnia. Maybe PM2023 would have Iris temporary turned into older version of herself like Molly (M03) due to Terapagos ability.

First, even rivals get nerfed by the chuuni OC. Gary was the champion in the games but in the anime he didnt even beat a single elite 4, all because Ash was so bland and uninspiring.
Second, either Ash is not the world champion, or he's so weak that even being world champion isn't enough to impress Nemona.... And yet she was impressed by Roy, who is a much smarter and more talented trainer.

Regardless of whether Ash retired post-DP, I kind of wish they had pulled the trigger after XY and made Kukui the MC for Sun and Moon. It's not like there isn't precedent for having an adult MC for a children's show, and honestly, Friede fills up much of the same role that I'd fanwank about Kukui holding. Keep the rest of the Alola cast the same, and make them the ultimate focus with Kukui being the touchstone for the audience. I don't want to dogpile on the Ash hate train, but his inclusion is really the only thing I'd change about SM.

This is why Ash suits better as Nemona's rival than Liko and Roy considering he is the freaking World Champion and probably the best rival she can ask for. Also nothing stopping them for bring back Ash and other past characters as side characters to help Liko and Roy. PM2023 is trying to standalone again like XY/XY&Z and Coco even though that idea did not work in the past.

I liked how "The Type Specialist" portrayed Ash. He's pretty dumb, rarely trains(and when he does it's inefficient), but he's got spirit and is pretty lucky with the bullshit maneuvers he comes up with on the spot working instead of backfiring. Maneuvers that his pokemon are able to follow up on because Ash is practically God's Chosen and has his pokemon literally buffed by God, letting even his untrained shitmons perform feats that would otherwise require a year or more of training.

But Ash still loses to people who know what they're doing, because God only gives Ash a 'Helping Hand', instead of a free win like he received in the Masters Tournament. Which is why Ash was destined to lose to Tobias in an 2-6 sweep, and why Ash lost to the protagonist in The Type Specialist, both people who trained for and earned their wins.
The battles are written better in The Type Specialist too, but that's true for all fanfiction vs Ashime writing since the Ashime had horrible writing.

Playing Scarlet/Violet to evtrain and man I just keep being reminded how Horizons really is the best part of the franchise right now currently. It has its issues like that skipped amethio/friede conclusion or too easy ways for the lead duo to get saved but I'm thinking this episode will be a big one to decide whether PM2023 can deliver an interesting villain cast or they become TRio all the time.

(I also finished Detective Pikachu 3DS yesterday, not a bad experience if you see it as an extended special with pixar humans, I really liked dual speaking to humans & pokemon for clues. Wonder if the switch game improves on it)

At least shitty old anipoke had goofy fillers and shorter term storylines. Horizons not only abandoned everything for the storyline, but the storyline is more interesting in jerking you around than actually going anywhere. I've never enjoyed the 'story' of Pokemon but once upon a time I could tune in for a laugh and a short, cute story. The suspense they're trying to fabricate isn't amounting to anything, I don't believe a single person is actually on the edge of their seat over this stuff.

Ash was garbage but I think the pace, vibe, and focus on competitive battling over mysteries and villains made the show more fun to discuss. I loved the Murdock episode, AND the Friede backstory, but most episodes are dry, dry, dry.

When we get to the end of this series and people look back and realize it was just a series of false-starts, cliffhangers, and exposition, they'll realize this wasn't the change the series needed. It just needed a new protagonist, new battle scenarios, and a funny ensemble. People are a bit too tribal, too quick to adopt and defend Horizons simply for dumping Ash. No one smart wanted Ash to stay, but that doesn't make this new idea any better. In most ways, it's worse.

This episode was genuinely one of the worst so far. So much fucking padding just to build up to the grandma but it turns out she doesn’t know fucking anything about anything. What the hell? Why did they bait us with the trailer saying she’s going to reveal Lucius’ story just for her to basically go “lol I dunno” the whole time? Am I missing something here, or did she really reveal that she after all the years she’s been researching Lucius, the only thing she could find out is the name of the paradise? (Lakua). Either way, the turtle was cute. Curious to see how it fits into the schemes and teams, especially when there's an Episode about its antics in 2 weeks. I like the setup they went with Cat for that ep. From accepting hatmon into the mix to feeling overshadowed by Turtlemon within that short span. More focus on the Cat is a win in my books.

I'm enjoying the series a lot, but I do agree that go place->find out about lore->Amethio attacks->Charizard and Amethio fight->fight gets cut off and both groups part with Amethio vowing to find them once again is kinda starting to feel like the "walk through forest, bump into COTD/POTD, hijinks ensue" of Horizons at this point.
I do hope they change trajectories soon with the rest of the Explorers getting involved and Terapagos out of the pendant.

There's already so many characters that barely get a word in edgewise that I'm utterly floored that they're adding Diana into the mix. What about Dot? What about Orio? Was Murdock's episode his one and only episode? Where do the actual Pokemon fit into all this? Why are there so many bad guys?

This show is throwing fucking everything at us and asking us to care without taking the necessary time to build our relationships with all these characters and concepts. We could have spent the last few months JUST dealing with Amethio and building stronger bonds with the rest of the Volt Tacklers (and their FUCKING POKEMON), but we're drowning in bad guys, mysteries, and exposition.

I LOVED the first arc of this series. From the moment we met Liko, all the way to Roy catching Fuecoco, it was really really good. It even stayed solid after that.. But around the time Liko got hypnotized (an amnesia story not even 20 episodes into the show, yeesh) things started to take a sharp downward turn. At this point I'm more excited for their next anime, whatever that might be. Horizon's has established its formula, and it really isn't for me.

Literally nothing about her indicates that she'll be a regular.
I'm confused about why you're worrying about characters who haven't done much so early in the series to begin with honestly, especially since they haven't done something retarded like throw a big twist or make them massively important with no build up. You're right, but I think there is a misstep in planning if that is the case. They had plenty they could have done in Paldea before switching locations that would've been in character for the Pokemon anime, but with a more stable writing corps this time around. I know people are aghast at CotD episodes and the like, but some stuff just to flesh out Paldea more before heading off the Galar could have kept the timing of the DLCs and some reveals closer together.

Lucius is just a writer that befriended Terapagos, the journal is just a story. Even if Lucius was real, he wasn't an adventurer. Terapagos recently made the ancient balls for Diana with imagined pokemon because she's Lucius descendant, but Liko is the one collecting them.

Why is Horizons so... stiff? It feels like the gestures/character acting has taken a drastic downgrade. When he gets some focus, Fuecoco is often pretty funny but there's definitely less gags and funny background business in this series.
