Turkey inspired region. Emboar's design is already finalized, just not sure about the other two. Chestnaught or Sceptile will become a Byzantine knight. Quaquaval will become a Sufi dancer. Emboar is a sultan. Originally wanted all three to be inspired by important figures in Turkish history (Suleiman the Magnificent, Rumi the poet, Dragut the commander). That would mean making either Greninja or Quaquaval inspired by Dragut, leaving the Grass-type to be another starter based on Rumi, but can't think of who could fit that role. I am becoming autistic about this. On the one hand, Chespin, Tepig, and Quaxly works nice and easy as they fit the themes I initally planned out. On the other hand, basing them all on significant Turkish figures is an awesome idea I can't seem to get working. There is also the thing about their original forms all being part Fighting-type, which annoys me a bit, but not too much. Treecko, Tepig and Quaxly would be nice because they all come from the three different continents Pokémon uses (Asia, America and Europe), and Turkey was always known as the crossroads of the world, a melting pot of cultures. It would be a great way to show the influence of the region. But I hate Treecko's Gen 3 artwork because it's dated and looks out of place with the other two (here I used the ORAS artwork to make it fairer, but this wouldn't be used in "official" promo). But then, using Treecko makes it more spread out across generations (3, 5 and 9, as opposed to 6, 5 and 9) which is better to me as there will be something for all ages to look forward to. What do you think?

>>54669753 I asked this before, but I still don't get why you're using a pig for a Muslim region.

>>54669765 The idea is that the professor is studying the effects of the environment on Pokémon evolution. He brought three Pokémon from other regions for you to research as they adapt to the new region. This idea works perfectly for the Turkey inspired region for the reasons I mentioned in the OP.

yeah I'm gonna have to agree with the other guy, tepig could be swapped out with something else. An incineroar sultan would be fine if you'd like to stick with something bulky and not overlap regions with the other two. I also agree with your idea that having the oldest starter of the trio be from gen 5 (and being the most reviled of the 3 to boot) is not good, so it probably should be treecko even though chespin's line fits knights more

>>54669765 Also, the Sultan inspired Emboar design is fucking sick, I can't wait to get it modelled. This artist is incredibly talented. The thing that fan artists do that annoys me the most when they design regional forms is that they try to make them a superior version of the original form, when they should aim to be more of a sidegrade. This can be seen by looking at all the Hisuian starter evolution ideas by Fakémon artists and comparing them to the official ones. This artist took my shitty drawing and turned into something that not even my own mind could envision, while making sure to not make it just a superior Emboar.

I think I'm warming up to the idea of Treecko being the Grass-type starter. The colour scheme could primarily red with yellow highlights and the arm blades turned into mini swords. The weird tree tail could be turned into a kite shield with an intricate pattern.

>>54669776 >>54669793 I understand now. I just can't help but feel that making a pig take on the role of an ultimate authority in a Muslim society feels a little tone deaf. Emboar is absolutely the first thing that would come to mind when I think of that kind of body type and role, but I feel like it would be an ill-fit because of what I said above if it was meant to be a celebration. I think there's a quality point to be made by subverting those expectations and that something that is considered dirty and impure becomes the most powerful authority, but I'm not sure if that was your intention with that, so it's why I asked. I hope I'm not sounding too negative, because I look forward to seeing all three and love passionate things like this, just wanted to understand your thought process.

>>54669753 >Chestnaught or Sceptile will become a Byzantine knight. chestnaught is already based on a knight, so i think he's likely your best bet in this regard

>>54669993 Then the problem of all three being fairly new Pokémon arises. PLA had old (Gen 2), middle (Gen 5) and new (Gen 7) Pokémon.
>>54669992 I never even considered that, but I don't care. Emboar was too perfect of a fit for this role (the neck flames were turned into a fire turban). If someone wants to get offended by that they can feel free to.

>>54669753 The first trio. At least it has Sceptile. The other set is ugly.

>>54670247 Yeah, I'm going with Treecko, Tepig and Quaxly. Especially after I put Quilladin, Pignite and Quaxwell in a line to see how well they synergize with eachother and I realised Quilladin and Pignite literally have the same body. Grovyle, Pignite and Quaxwell is much more dynamic, and I have good ideas for all of their final evolutions. Thanks everyone, your feedback helped.
I think you might like Emboar a bit more after you see our design.

How is this in terms of balance and fun-factor? I tried to make them all different to eachother, both in terms of stats and their signature moves. Sceptile becomes a knight and thus trades speed for more bulk. It also becomes a physical attacker. Emboar has its offenses more balanced out and can be used as a mixed attacker, it also loses some speed. Quaquaval becomes faster and special-oriented. Perimian Sceptile Type: Grass/Steel Ability 1: Overgrow Hidden Ability: Stalwart HP: 80 Atk: 120 Def: 95 Sp. Atk: 75 Sp. Def: 85 Spd: 75 Signature Move: Shield Blitz Type: Steel Cat: Physical PP: 10 Power: 20 Accuracy: 90% Effect: Hits three times, and lowers the target's Defense by one stage. Perimian Emboar Type: Fire/Psychic Ability 1: Blaze Hidden Ability: Sheer Force HP: 110 Atk: 100 Def: 75 Sp. Atk: 113 Sp. Def: 75 Spd: 55 Signature Move: Supreme Strike Type: Psychic Cat: Special PP: 10 Power: 60 Accuracy: 100% Effect: Raises the user's Attack and Special Attack by one stage, but the user takes recoil to its HP equal to 1/3 of the damage dealt to the target. Perimian Quaquaval Type: Water/Ghost Ability 1: Torrent Hidden Ability: Serene Grace HP: 95 Atk: 85 Def: 70 Sp. Atk: 120 Sp. Def: 65 Spd: 95 Signature Move: Phantom Whirl Type: Ghost Cat: Special PP: 10 Power: 75 Accuracy: 100% Effect: Inflicts damage to every Pokémon on the field, and has a 20% chance to confuse each target.

>>54670333 With Shield Blitz, is it one stage lowered per hit? If not, I could see the accuracy being boosted to 100%. Similarly, does Sheer Force remove the recoil as well as the boosting from Supreme Strike?
Anonymous
>>54670360 It lowers Defense at the end of the attack.
Sheer Force removes all additional effects, so yes, recoil should be removed with the ability active, unless someone can correct me.

>>54670023 The Emboar decision will overshadow everything else about this project. People will assume you did all this work just to mock Muslims. Obviously no one can tell you what to do with your time and money, but you should be aware of how it will be interpreted. Just look at the thread to see what percentage of posts are about it. The same number or more will feel as strongly when you have the final project.

>>54670947 I don't care. I'm making this as a passion project more than anything else. Faggots can cry and piss their pants all they want but I'm doing all of this out of genuine interest and respect for the country's culture and history.
