I don’t own a 3DS and I’d like to get one just to transfer mons over from VGC.

I heard that you can’t buy bank anymore though so is it possible to buy a used 3DS with Home off of Ebay and just use the Bank account to connect to Home from their? I feel like it’s more complicated than this though.

the pokemon designs in PLA are wasted potential. the idea of mons that only exist in past sinnoh but not modern sinnoh is a good idea on paper, but all the designs are wasted on lazy rehashes of older pokemon like ursaluna. there would have been nothing wrong making new mons that weren't part of already existing evolution families. PLA is a disgusting nostalgia bait game. cross gen evos that weren't conceived until after gen 4 left a big shit stain on the franchise and they were a cancerous mistake

You could theoretically. I'd look on ebay to see what listings there are for 3DS consoles with bank on them. Probably a pretty hefty price tag, and probably only really being done by people who saw what was going to happen and decided to sell 3DSes at a massive mark up with bank and transporter on a throwaway account.

Not OP but recently installed pokebank on a hacked 3ds so hijacking, is there any chance it detects the games as pirated when trying to put them onto bank or transferring them to home or can it not tell the difference?

3DS has zero security measures against that stuff unlike the switch. I only remember one time they managed to ban pirates and it was when SM leaked almost two weeks earlier, then people went online with it and they decided to ban systems that way. They didn't even detect their copies were pirated, they just assumed due to the dates, so in theory some fucker out there got a legit early physical copy, went online, and got banned.
Anyway I digress, point is they can't tell, they never could.

It is. You actually need two apps, Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter. The latter can only be downloaded from Bank, not the eshop, and requires an active Bank subscription. Poke Transporter is the tool that moves Pokemon from gen 5/VC games to Bank, without it you can't move them up.
