Started as signature move of Lurantis, only opened up post-Dexit, so Leavanny hasn't existed in a game with a Solar Blade TM like, say, Sceptile.

Game Freak's very asinine when it comes to the movepools for Grass type Pokemon. There is no valid reason why a Pokemon's movepool should be shit. AND THERE'S NO FUCKING REASON WHY MEGANIUM SHOULD HAVE TO BE WEAK IN SPITE OF IT BEING A FULLY EVOLVED STARTER FOR FUCK'S SAKES.

sorry to be a pendantic fuckwad but i feel that usually shit movepools are to balance out other aspects like a stellar ability, a good typing, or amazing stats. now, exchanging moves for big stats is not an equivalent exchange. but gamefart probably thought it was
black kyurem was a real shit case of this though. it's a goddamn box legendary give it stats and give it moves and then jerk off or something

eh, looking through the generations i think it got powercrept more than anything and just didn't get enough to keep up. it probably would've benefitted more from a rain dish equivalent for sun than leaf guard, idunno. but its stats are pretty balanced out, which was fine for early gens but it's become pretty clear that having a more minmaxed spread tends to make a mon stronger. iirc it was most well known for screens support, something that may have been small back in gsc but has WAY better options available now
