Not much to say, just this "project voltage" thing where they're doing a crossover event.
They had 6 artists do 18 Miku designs, one for each type, and will now have 18 producers do 18 songs. We're on the third song, and the next guy up is pinnochioP, rest are not revealed yet.

OP one is too gimmicky and deco*27's is just boring, but I've consistently listened to inabakumori's. It's a little gimmicky but a lot of his flavor still comes though and it generally works pretty well.

Mitchie M made a lot of cool songs like Eazy Dance, Freely Tomorrow or Ai Dee. Their newer ones are a bit too anime music but still catchy. But this and the last Mitchie M song are really lacking I'd say along with the OsterProject collab are the 3 worst songs of this artist. Sad! I was looking towards this one the most but it seems like the composers have to put in a lot of random game osts

inabakumori is the only one that works as a standalone song without screaming POKEMON PIKACHU every 5 seconds.
The sampled songs from the games add enough of a connection and don't really bother me, they blend well enough into it.

I really hope they get some producer that is good at telling stories with the song and PV though, that's one of the biggest strengths of Vocaloid songs and could make a few really stand out. I'm sure there's no shortage of producers out there who can say something interesting using Pokémon as a frame of reference.

Given that Pokémon Co. produced stuff doesn't shy away from Ghost Pokémon doing unsettling things to people, the one thing I'd not be surprised about is some vocaloP just going nuts with a ghost song and that getting approved.
The issue is that most of the time to do something cool with ghost pokémon lore one needs to be a Pokémon nerd to begin with, most of these producers probably like Pokémon but not enough for these deep cuts. Nothing about any of the three we got so far really screams "passionate about Pokémon". But with 15 to go there's always a chance.

This has grown on me as I re-listened to it a few times through out the day, but I feel like this and the one by deco have really nice choruses? or whatever they're called but then midway through the song after the first verse they throw in a random pokemon themes that don't really mesh as well for some reason before jumping back to the main tune. I'm not really that well versed in music making or theory or whatever but it feels like a shame since inabakumori's didn't feel like it did that as blatantly while still incorporating a lot of themes.
I kinda wish these songs were just vaguely related to pokemon rather than cramming each song full of 10+ different themes.

Yeah no it's not just you. Inabakumori does the same thing as the other songs in practice, but they actually put in the effort to use the funny references as coherent parts of the song(like swapping to Burgh's B2W2 gym theme to calm down a bit after the chorus). I'd prefer if future songs just used a part of the OST to set a general vibe for an otherwise original theme (like the heckin' ho-oh theme as a guitar riff for something like Senbonzakura), but at least it tries to match instrumentation up for everything (well, outside of the cries and PC beeps)

The worst part about this song for me is that MitchieM is insanely talented, I don't get why this song is so... not good.

Maybe it's just that he didn't care or didn't have much time. At least that's the copium I'm having for the time. One or two more songs will make it clear how much of the songs so far have been just a coincidence (because it's entirely possible that when told they have free reign to sample Pokémon music a lot of composers just go "oh hell what do I pick" and end up trying to mash 10 of them into the song) and how much is a Pokémon Co. mandate of say, having a set minimum of Pokémon music and sounds that MUST be incorporated into the songs.

Not every producer is dedicated to making songs about various forms of abuse though. Even my favorite of his is about violence bullying.
