You’re right but Iwata wasn’t the one who made adding Kanto possible, (the team was already working on that). Iwata’s “compression” was referring to optimization so that time would be saved of various actions, adding up so that the game would run much smoother.

I came back to Pokémon during the lockdowns as an adult with an old copy of White I never finished. I stopped at Sapphire in early high school and only picked up White after college out of curiosity. Having never played the generation four games, Cynthia completely destroyed me. I wasn’t ready for the heat she brought.
