>>54695259The rules are going to vary from League to League, but the gist of it is:
- You and up to 16 players get an amount of points to spend so you can add a mon to your team Roster, if you drafted that mon, no else is gonna have it
- Drafting is done is done in snaking order, so if 4 people were drafting, the order would be 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1-1-2..., until the draft finishes.
- By the end, every player is gonna have a team of about 8-12 mons (max team size depends on the League), and any mon that wasn't picked becomes a Free Agent.
- After the Draft is done, each following week you'll be matched up against another team, round robin style, until you get to the playoffs where the best teams face each other in a single elimination bracket.
- You get some amount of trades, like say up to 3 trades with other players and up to 3 trades for a Free Agent.
The cool thing is usually because of the way drafting works, every team has 1-2 broken threats, 1-2 good mons, and the rest are not so desirable mons, so a lot of unconventional mons get to shine.
The fact that every week you have full awareness of what your opponent can bring since their roster of mons is public, means a lot of work goes into preparation, so you can actually see some crazy sets being used as hyper specific counters.
