Right is objectively better but I love the idea presented on the left. The first major dungeon newbie trainer Red/the player faces is a forest that children younger than him go through with ease. By the time the veteran Gold/player visits it he doesn’t even recognize it as a dungeon.

The game is nearly over at that point so its easy to forget just how little there actual was in Kanto. Outside of the marvel of Kanto being able to be put in the game all, most people remember it for the the Red Finale.

I think HGSS is easily the best game in the series but I 100% agree that turning GSC's "legendaries are optional" into Gen III/IV's "YOU are the CHOSEN ONE and YOU can catch Ho-oh and Lugia because YOU are the CHOSEN ONE" is one of the worst things, if not the single worst thing, HGSS does
