They're the two trainers who you run into before you reach Lumiose City for the first time, and they show you the way to the Professor's lab.
They also appear at a few later points to upgrade your dex, and they've also got a sort of vigilante thing on the side.

Their vigilante thing is pretty funny to me because it doesn't really go anywhere or get elaborated on as far as I can remember, they just show up at the end and it's like "oh I guess this is a thing they do", like there's been a whole teen super-hero adventure going on in the background this whole time and you've just happened to be there for the final conclusion.

In Route 16, they are found at a Aether Foundation laboratory where they teach you how to use the Cells you collected to create a Zygarde. They come back in the postgame - they give you Mega Evolution after beating Dexio in a battle. In USUM only they also give you Zygarde 10% after catching 50% Zygarde in Resolution Cave and beating Dexio in another battle. Both opponents are also in the Battle Tree albeit version exclusive.

Sun and Moon got stuck with a bunch of leftover content meant for Z that ends up feeling really out of place. Kind of sucks because the games have their fair share of cut content and it likely would've made it in if they didn't waste time trying to cram the game with stuff that didn't really belong.
