Thoughts on these guys just design wise?
I think they are the second best box legends we ever got
I more prefer Palkia a bit but still both are solid 8s to me.

Yeah I think they're pretty great. Hits a nice balance of looking complex without stepping over the line. Fits the look of basically a primordial demigod over a fundamental aspect of the universe.

In regards to the origin form, Origin Palkia is pretty cool. Origin Dialga is ruined by the weird gradient it has going in

Both very ugly. Strong contenders for the worst boxart legends, if the gen 8 dogs didn’t exist. I was disappointed when they first revealed these.

second worst designed box legends behind the gen 8 duo. they're painfully messy to look at and clearly nonfunctional as organisms, which is why they just stand there dumbly or fly around with magic in all of their apperances.

They're alright, but I always wondered if it was intentional that the designs don't really have that many obvious references to their space/time demigod status. As it stands, it seems like they continued the design theme of making cool big monsters with glowing lines on them like the gen 3 titans, but the difference is that the preceding trio also had other things going for them (monstrous whale as a leviathan stand-in, big lava lizard as behemoth, and an eastern dragon for ziz).

My first thought when I saw them was that they looked very sci-fi"esque".
As usual you had people saying they didn't look like pokemon but I liked the direction GF was taking, diamond and pearl really felt like the future of pokemon and they still do.
