1. A universe with free will but without evil is a logical contradiction, like a square circle. One cannot use logic to posit a logical contradiction as a solution, the desired “God is not omnipotent” being the solution here, because it is self-refuting.
2. The answer is that an omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent God could logically allow for the possibility of evil in order to allow for the greatest possible good to result, especially if it is possible that evil is theoretically an option but not chosen, as would have been the case had Adam and several not chosen the fruit.
