The only people who say this are those that are upset it doesn't fit their incredibly arbitrary definition of what a gimmick is.
A lot of people just want them back because they were the last meaningful addition to the battle system before it got stripped down beyond recognition with gimmicks and mode removal.

I'd personally put Tera as second. It's still a prediction heavy bullshit gimmick but it's better than seeing the opposing Landorous suddenly pull out a 150 BP Flying move, or a Heatran having a 150 BP Grass move with no charge up or sun necessary
