Pokemon that are stronger in battle specifically because they've been tortured by Team Evilteam is incredibly edgy and absolutely not congruent with the current state of the brand

great concept, would love them to compliment shinies in the mainline games and be purifiable. didnt XD somehow fit normal, shiny AND shadow models into the game? or did they skip shinies? certainly by now all 3 should fit in a game.

XD had normal, shiny, and shadow versions of each Pokemon, but the shadow pokemon were all shiny locked. Colosseum has shiny shadows though

doesn't it just slightly boost their damage? colosseum makes them autocrit and gale of darkness has a bunch of shadow moves that are super effective on every type

shadow pokémon are both harder to control and incapable of any growth, I think they fit perfectly side by side with the whole "love and treat you pokémons well to make them stronger" schtick

Shadow Pokemon don't really fit well into the main game, aside from maybe a one-time thing for a box legendary or something. I could maybe see them work better in a Pokemon Ranger-like game where instead of stylers, you just fight and sometimes catch the pokemon being brainwashed by the evil team.

They're harder to train, but do and take 20% more damage. Plus it's really hard to get them to learn a move that isn't Frustration (which is awful)
I don't think Game Freak would ever allow it, since Shadow Pokémon are often preferable to regular ones. There is only 1 Pokémon that is better Purified and it's Sableye.

Which is why they're so good. Pokémon is so soulless and sterile now. The evil teams are a complete joke for the last few gens, and there's almost no dark writing anymore.
