We're like a year or two, at most, away from being forever unable to bring Pokemon from as far back as 2003 to the current game here in 2023.
20 years of accessibility will be gone, just like that. There's hardly a fuss about it at all here.
Don't we care more? We're just gonna sit here and take it? I'm not asking us to grab pitchforks and form a mob, but man, I am a little bummed about the fanbases response as a whole. Especially here. Was this really GF's only option? I know Bank's getting an extension past the official discontinuation of 3DS' online but do we really believe GF and Nintendo couldn't keep that part online forever if they truly wanted? Being able to connect these games across 20 years was a really unique feature to Pokemon, and it being the highest grossing franchise on the planet, you'd think they'd have the resources to spare for us to keep our accessibility of the franchises namesake; Pokemon across generations. I would hate for this to be the norm going forward. What, will our S/V Pokemon be inaccessible to our future selves in next 10 years? I assume at least a quarter of you will still be playing Pokemon in 2033, for better or for worse. I guess i'm just sad all those Pokemon, at one point, from gens 1-7 on the DS/3DS will never be locked to that handheld. I get it, it's just data, but people will form bonds with their data, regardless.
