Despite having a few neat interactions, SOS battles often made catching mon a pain in the ass, AND they made finding HAs a clunky slog. Getting a Geodude with Galvanize required careful team building beforehand.

XY have flaws but it’ll never not be funny seeing people call it the worst ever when every gen that came after amplified its problems. Same goes for the few who try and argue gen V as bad yet all of its problems are tenfold in future games.

SV is even more rushed and unfinished but it's still a better game than SWSH because it took risks. There are no risks in SWSH beyond the dexcut. Even the Wild Area is a tiny little portion of the game that you can just ignore.

They're both dogshit and they are related to each other in terms of dogshittiness, because SWSH being rushed was a result of cutting gen 6 short to rush gen 7, it was all a mess.
SM ruined all the momentum of XY and ORAS, for multiple reasons. Gen 7 was a huge mistake, should have done Z to end gen 6 with a definitive game and then work hard on the big Switch debut games for 3-4 years. The timeline where gen 7 was the big Switch game is the best one.

i honestly really liked SOS battles. it was the last time hunting for Hidden Ability mons was fun and getting the SOS exclusive mons felt rewarding. raids as far as i know don't have any way to chain like you can with SOS and dexnav so the pokemon you want doesn't appear in the den then you're shit out of luck. i didn't play SV but i'm going to assume it didn't fix raids. SOS is alo what makes Totem pokemon stand out from gym leaders and the 1v2 format should have been a staple for boss fights

that's genuinely cool though. i like that some mons require different strategies. dexnav is better from a convenience standpoint but i like that SOS makes the requirements different for some mons meanwhile for dexnav it's pretty much the same no matter what mon it is
