I'm not a shipper, but I like the magic of Pokeshipping, something that other shipping mostly doesn't have, because they never try to force it, they never put a forced, explicit, idealized and blatant romantic tinge to it, it just happens, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. They're not idealized characters (or Ash wasn't until XY), they're just two kids with virtues and flaws of their age who can be rude and stubborn, but also very caring and caring a lot for each other when the situation warrants it. They can sleep together in a camping tent, and it just happens, some consider it a "sign", others do not. Plus, that chemistry where they can joke around soothingly is excellent.
