Yes you can have anything in your team, nobody stops you, but if a Pokemon doesn't pull its weight it's just a waste of a slot.
When I first played Pokemon Y I caught a Farfetch'd on an early route and carried it to the victory road.
Yes, I COULD have it, but I couldn't switch into it because of its shit bulk, it couldn't KO anything even with supereffective STAB and was using 90% of my heals and revives.
Using total shitmons is not fun. You just end up using its better teammates most of the time.
