>>54744393well in liepards case it wasnt actually the best user of swagplay but there was another set it had in lower tiers that used prankster assist. First of all, klefki is what actually got swagplay banned, its just that liepard had been doing swagplay since it got prankster and no one took it seriously until klefki was doing it to OU players.
Liepard was part of a certain weird 2 prong strategy that mostly took place in RU called assistcat shuffle. you would use riolu and liepard on a team with moves that specifically couldnt be called by assist but for some reason whirlwind was allowed to be used. You would just set up rocks and then whirlwind spam with liepard using prankster assist, and because its faster than most priority users you couldnt really stop it.
As for riolu, it had a weird combo that you would see on normal teams in gen 5 because it learned roar and copycat, if the opponent didnt have protect or any other priority moves and if they couldnt OHKO riolu with their current pokemon it would get 32 consecutive copy cat roars which is pretty brutal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONa638UtMDwThe assist strategy wasnt actually flawless in gen 5 if you had magic bounce or magic guard or any hazard clearing. It was actually really telegraphed too because the team will always be ferrothorn (if ou), spin blocker, roar and rock setter, liepard, ditto (need a mon that can kill the last/unphazable pokemon but also it doesnt need attacking moves that would clog up assist) and a filler mon (probably riolu). these teams were absolute dogshit outside of their main strategy because they cant use any moves that get called by assist. Still this was enough to get assist and copycat both banned in gen 5
