I think this is a trend they will keep using from now on. This was a hit and so was Maushold. Dipplin also has this gimmick albeit more restrained

easy, eliminate the schooling ability for the domestic Wishiwashi, leaving the ability exclusively for wild Wishiwashi, when you catch one it automatically lose the ability, to compensate give it an evolution

It's not really new. Slowbro is actually two pokemon combined into one, and according to the pokedex they can even be separated from each other.

Don't forget mantine.
This gotta be my favorite version of this gimmick. The fact that there are actually fish that stick to the bottoms of bigger fish, and that manta rays already basically have wings just makes the fighter jet combination so perfect. Kinda wish they played into it more, mechanically.
