Is this the most inconsequential gen 1 pokemon? I like him but it feels like he's hardly featured anywhere, hardly talked about by anyone or used by anyone and his only gimmick is suicide bombing.

Only in unite it is on several maps and it has its own gamemode in the chinese beta
It is in cafe mix unlike hundreds of pokemon
Just got a regional variant
Its featured in all smash bros games

Outspeeds nearly any other pokemon, STAB with electric moves which is incredibly useful, and can just kerplode and KO the enemy when things go sour or you get stuck

I'd say he's featured a whole lot as the "fake item" pokemon (I'm including Voltorb) and has been as much for the first several generations. Also used to power generators, traps and stuff in Gen II and beyond. Pretty active in the anime too, whenever he appears you know exactly what's gonna happen, kaboom. And that's a good recurring element.

He's literally the main symbol of the series, as a pokemon. That's great

Pisses me off so much. It'd have a pretty solid niche in lower tiers as the fastest screen setter with pivot potential and for some reason GF just doesn't want either of them to have both screens.
