Like imagine if instead of a mediocre Shiny Meowscarada went all black like Greninja or got Autumn colors. I'm not saying that'd look any better but it definitely would make it way more popular.
If I had to guess why they make shinies bad by barely changing the shiny colors it's to keep the Pokemon recognizable so little Timmy doesn't get confused.
