Lysandre is a rehash of Cyrus and the most forgettable villain. Giving him a coherent team is a first step to getting him out of the hole. I only chose 5 pokémon because it's rare to see villains with a full team.

Pyroar: shares traits with Lysandre
Tyrantrum: Team Flare searched for fossils
Aegislash: linked to kings
Trevenant: linked to death
M-Absol: linked to catastrophes

Pretty good but Absol really doesn't fit. Having Mega Gyarados on his team is fine. Its just having Gyarados and Honchkrow on the same team makes him feel like Great Value Cyrus.

Cyrus's team is worse. He should have Pokemon like Porygon-Z or Magnezone to fit his logical personality and sci-fi theming but instead he has the most generic mcbadguy team ever. Most of the time I forget what his ace is even supposed to be. At least with Lysandre Pyroar is unique.

Absol announces catastrophes but is kind.
Lysandre appears to be kind but wants to produce a catastrophe.
Moreover, Absol is beautiful, in keeping with Lysandre's quest for a beautiful world.
Gyarados has been used a lot (Lance, Clair, Blue, Wallace, Wake, Cyrus)
