Because for some retarded reason some people have it in their heads that the ultimate Pokemon game would just be a Frankenstein's monster of every Pokemon, feature, and mechanic in the entire series, as if the different games being isolated from each other wasn't completely intentional. A game shouldn't NEED all of that shit in it, and other games having things isn't a good reason to put them in every other game too. Instead of focusing on what makes each game unique and fun to play they just want to bog the experience down by including as much as possible while still keeping the game functional. Which sounds great from a purely mechanical standpoint, but that doesn't mean shit if the game itself is bad.

Polished works better as a toolkit than an actual game. It suffers from the same problems noted in the OP. They try to cram in everything just because they figured out a how to get it working on GBC hardware, but never put in the thought to determine if they should add all that bloat.
Yeah, it's cool you can have a dozen different Arbok patterns, regional forms, abilities, etc. But should you? Does that really improve the game?

My priorities are completely straight. If I'm playing a rom hack, I'm playing someone's vision. They designed a game in a certain way to change up the formula from what was originally there. If I'm just going to get rid of all that, why wouldn't I just play the original?
Polished Crystal doesn't know what it wants to do, and is bloated for that reason. It has a mile-long menu of options where you are always on the knife's edge of "we did this because we could" and "it's just the original at a higher framerate." It's not interesting as a game, but it holds value as a tech demo. Something you play around with for an hour before either putting it down or downloading the source code to make your own changes.

Which is why you put weak Pokemon like Dustox at the beginning of the game and powerful Pokemon like Zekrom at the end.
Catching Zekrom halfway through will let you steamroll the game even if you had to go through the hardest dungeon in history to find it.

I think you don't understand them. You're comparing Zekrom to Dustox, no shit you wouldn't have a legendary spawn at the very beginning of the game. But Pokemon has always had monsters that are good early game and end up falling off later, or Pokemon that you can stick with for a while but are rare to balance out their power. Something like gen 1 Tauros or gen 4 Gible. Pokemon that would be just as rare as any random Nidorina or Geodude in full dex hacks.

This is 100% correct. Radical red is only good for it having all 9 gens of pokemon and ease of access to QOL.
Celadon to Saffron runs like this:

>Fight Sabrina
>Go fight Marowak and get PokeFlute

It feels like a cluster fuck considering you don't have any new areas to really explore and you travel one town over to do all this. Oh and if you try to go South after waking Snorlax your character STOPS and says something like "I feel like I should do something somewhere, etc." So you can't put it off for a bit and go exploring. Its all back to back to back named fights in dungeons all within a 5 level spread because they cap you 1-2 levels per boss at this point. Feels like a train wreck point in the game.

Tauros should never be available in the early game because it's way better than some other normal types, doesn't have preevolutions and can easily overwhelm low level trainers.
Rarity doesn't change the fact that once you're done walking in the grass for hours and have your Tauros a big chunk of the early game battles is in your pocket.
The only way to properly balance very strong Pokemon is to only make them available once enemy trainers are advanced enough to give them a hard time. Before that players should stick with Sentret and Hoothoot

This made me quit Radical Red. I got tired when route 14-15 had me fighting 5+ trainers with 5/6 pokemon teams with megas. I just want to walk to the next town, why would anyone think this is needed?

I'm in a pro nuzlocker discord and it's fucking hilarious how they have pkhex guides for each hack on what items are available so you can hack everything in at the start of a nuzlocke, including infinite full restores and money and all TMs, because the hacks aren't even nuzlocke viable if you don't cheat. How is the argument over how many pokemon can he in a route still a thing when even Gamefreak found the solution back in Gen 7?
If you want a huge regional dex for whatever reason, just split up spawns. Have 3 grass patches with 8 encounters each instead of 1 patch with 20. You get the same numbers AND still have more room to choose spawn odds.

Not really? they're slightly more difficult in terms of fights and level caps, yes, but they offer way more options to the player without overwhelming them like radical red does. There's a reason people do Monotype runs of Radical red, and not of Drayano hacks. RR just has so much shit in it that a normal player will just bounce right off

Old Nuzlockes were popular because it was how people regularly played pokemon, with the only difference being death, and 1 pokemon per route instead of 1-2. People playing vanilla games usually stuck to the first 6 pokemon they got due to just how fucking awful leveling was before EXP-All

If I am someone who wants to play crystal, but better, and strictly that, as is advertised, I would not want changes to the pokemon themselves. Their locations, encounter variety, level curve? You can change those without changing the essence of the game. But then you have shit like Switching Dark and Ghost, or buffing and switching the types of moves like Twineedle and cut. Why? That doesn't Improve Crystal, that just turns it into something else.
There's also the fanfic with Giovanni, which only serves as self indulgence at the expense of making Lance even more paper thin than he already was.
It's just not what was advertised, and if I wanted a "Pure experience with minor improvements", Crystal Clear would not be the game to go to

Yeah that's literally what Crystal Legacy is. It's made by a big johtofag so it still feels like you're playing Gen 2 crystal without the the newer stuff that came after it.

The minor move and stat buffs aren't even a big deal because the trainers you fight benefit too

Look, I just want a romhack that has all pokemon available (all starters, trade evolutions made available without trading, event pokemon available, no version exclusives) for each of FR/LG, R/S/E, D/P/P, HG/SS, B/W/B2/W2

I don't want any of these with extra hot shota sex side quest or immersive female gym leader pussy mini games or hyper autistic QoL fixes. I just want to be able to catch all pokemon in a single game on my emulator without having to open up pkhex and hack in pokemon or trade between two emulators running two different versions of the game.

ignoring third versions gen 4 seems like the last time they made any attempt to build on the previous gens as far as features go, since Contests, Secret Bases, and the Battle Frontier were all kept to some extent (though the latter wasn't until platinum)
from gen 5 onward cutting major features pretty much became their go-to, and they've somehow gotten worse about it with each passing gen
