In Gen 9, Shiftry was given Brambleghast's signature ability, Wind Rider. This was coupled with the addition of Tailwind onto its moveset, allowing to act as a pseudo Shift Gear that's on a timer and an immunity to a few moves. Not only that, but it received a few utility moves completing an already fairly diverse moveset: Toxic Spikes, Will-O-Wisp, or Icy Wind to name a few, on a Pokémon that already has a pretty large moveset, with stuff like Heat Wave or Hurricane.
Its nothing mind blowing, but it was a pleasant surprise to see something like this happen, while remaining in line with what Shiftry is based on. The tengus its based off of are long nosed humanoid yokais that can stir great winds.
