When you die,
Your Legacy will die with you.
That's right. We will crush EVERYTHING you have built up. You won't get a statue. You won't get a post office. You won't even get a street name. We will slash out your names from the record books. All your hopes for the future will be squashed immediately. You would cry, but you will be long dead. Either you will become a forgotten memory whose only evidence of existing are some pots/pans archeologists dig up 3000 years from now or you will have your images destroyed throughout all the the history books; remembered as a failed and cursed generation that no one will strive to become. Regardless you will not be missed.
All you can do is cry in your final days, wishing you were nice to the younger people, wishing you just gave them that entry job you demanded "4 years of experience" for, wishing you didn't make so many back-handed comments about your grandson's transgender friend, wishing you actually did something about the climate change, wishing you surrender the country to the auto industry.
You will spend the rest of your life in paranoia, knowing that we will not support you. Instead we will "accidentally" unplug your support machines randomly. Your pills will "mysteriously" run out faster than before. When you finally die off, we will go through the normal gestures of American funerals, but secretly we will be relieved of your passing as it marks one less person draining the social security and Medicaid systems.
This is the future YOU choose with your endless selfishness, stubborn behavior and willful ignorance. So enjoy your physical and cultural oblivion. We sure will.
