I was extremely happy when I got picked for the role, thinking that playing Liko might have been my actual purpose in life, what I was born to do.

The first video game I played to completion on my own was Pocket Monsters Diamond/Pearl, though I also remember watching the anime that aired alongside it and looking up to its protagonist Hikari-chan, drawing pictures, having my cousin that was into Pokémon cards show me what cards she had, and collecting lots of merch.

My absolute favorites are "Pocket Monsters the Movie: The Guardian Gods of the Water Capital, Latias and Latios" and "Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation the Movie: The Seven-Night Wishing Star, Jirachi". Also, this summer I went with Terasaki-san, who plays Roy, to a Pokémon anime event where we were so delighted to see children singing RVR: Rising Volt Tacklers Rap with all their might that we almost cried... (laughs)

It was really helpful to have them be so considerate about every little detail and relieve me of any anxiety I had.

However, when I started digging a bit deeper into the character, I realized that these monologues aren't actually just things she won't say out loud, but can also come from her optimistic side and involve her telling herself that she wants to try something or act on something. Episode 26, "Terapagos' Adventure", showed us that she's now become able to put these thoughts into words and actions, and I'm going to have to do my best to portray this type of emotions in a sincere manner.

It also has this jealous side to it that I find really cute, but even though it can be childish at times, it's also very reliable and cares a lot for Liko, paving a way for her when needed. I don't feel like the two are as emotionally close as Roy and Hogator are, but I like that they are themselves, and I look forward to seeing how their bond will deepen from here on.

Roy may look like he just recklessly rushes into things, but he's actually surprisingly perceptive of his surroundings; He immediately notices that Liko feels down and asks her about it, and he even realized Gurumin was Dot before Liko did (laughs). I think that growing up in an unconstrained manner on an island alongside Pokémon is precisely what made him so kind, considerate and perceptive.

However, I feel that it's thanks to ALL the Rising Volt Tacklers that Liko and Roy are able to grow mentally. They're wonderful companions that stand by their side and support them in what they want to do. Chapter 2 is going to have an episode focused on Orio, the reliable older sister of the group, so I want you to keep an eye our for that.

The fact that someone that struggled as hard to express her feelings as Liko did wanted to know more about Dot herself, not Gurumin, and tried so hard to get closer to her probably played a major part in Dot's growth, and we see that Liko's influence on Dot has gradually changed the way she interacts with the other Rising Volt Tacklers. The scene where Dot acknowledged Liko as her actual "friend" made me really happy, and I feel like Liko has a wonderful relationship with her very unlike the one she has with Roy.

I felt like I was able to see a new side of her this episode the way she presented curry to Dot due to wanting to do something with her, and I loved seeing her frantically prepare for the curry because she wanted Dot to learn and try new things out of a desire to be friends with her. Her energy was so contagious I might have contracted some it it while performing the role (laughs).

The Pokémon battles between Amethio and Friede are very intense, and I feel like the kind of mindgames we saw in episode 1 and 2 is something we've never seen much of in earlier series. And as far as Liko is concerned, her, Roy and Dot's battle against Spinel in episode 16, "As Long As I'm With Kuwassu", definitely left a lasting impression on me. The way Spinel carries out his missions according to preplanned steps and the way he doesn't hold back no matter who he's fighting made him feel "scary" in a way none of the earlier villains in the anime series did. There are three other strong executives in addition to him as well, so I feel like Liko and Roy will have to improve their battle game from here on too.
