The only hope is extremely autistic modders taking existing games and making decent at best romhacks if you want the gameplay to be better, though you usually have to put up with them putting their OC donut steel anime autism somewhere in the game even if you don't want it

Pokemon had a chance of being good with Legends Arceus by hyping up Souls combat in the trailer. If they had layered the gameplay loop better, the open world would have served it’s purpose antiquely and pokemon fans would have been rejoicing and singing Gamefreak’s praises.
But 3 years for a balance patch is not frosty.

It's getting there. The developers are shit for sure but they're learning. Gen 10 might be the best 3D pokemon we get honestly. Gen 9 already has the feel but not the upkeep. And legends showed us they can make a fun engaging 3D game. I know we keep hearing "next gen, next gen" but I really do think gen 10 will be the one

The sole existence of this video still makes me have a little bit of hope for the future. This is an absolute anomaly especially coming out 1 fucking year after the shitfest of SwSh but gets the classic pokemon spirit to perfection. I do believe there needs to be a full overhaul in both design philosophy and general target audience to change the games as a whole which is unlikely for now.
