Kalos Air Flight 438, was a Douglas DC-8 that crashed on [REDACTED], on approach to the international airport in Sootopolis City, in Hoenn. The crash killed 9 of the 13 Icelandic crew members, 5 reserve crew members, and 135 passengers out of a total of 262 passengers and crew. The official report by Hoennian authorities determined the probable cause of the crash to be failure of the crew to conform to approach procedures in a mountainous region; however, Unovan and Kalosian authorities claimed faulty equipment at the airport, dangerous procedure and air traffic control error as the reasons for the crash.
With 149 fatalities, the crash of Flight KA438 is one of the deadliest crash in Hoenn, and the third deadliest involving a Douglas DC-8 in the Pokemon [anime] world aviation history.
