https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SlxBVdMxtkMedleys in Smash are a big mixed bag because while they're pretty good at best they can be wastes of songs that would've been better off getting their own full remixes at worst, and the latter case is definitely true here. Worse still, this is the ONLY Gen 2 track in the entire game.
Johto in Smash is honestly just a sad story overall, first it got shafted due to Melee's rushed dev cycle, then it got shafted in Brawl due to gen 3 releasing after Melee and HGSS being two years off, then it got shafted in 4 due to both Gen 5 and 6 releasing after Brawl and needing their own stages/music, and then it got shafted in Ult due to it's decreased emphasis on individual series due to Everyone is Here and Alola's release.
(Also I think Unova Route 10 from 4 and Zinnia Battle and SM Trainer Battle from Ult are pretty good too, but there's a very skewed ratio either way)
